I might take this stamp down until the issue has passed, 'cuz it'd serve no purpose afterward.
I live in California, and there's a new proposition going around that gay people should NOT be allowed to marry. This, actually, is going to pull back the new law they made that had ALLOWED homosexuals to marry. KEEP NOTE: I AM STRAIGHT!
I really think Prop 8 is stupid. Some view points of mine...
Banning gay marriage will not stop homosexuality. You will see them regardless.
First it was Native Americans, then Blacks, now gay people? Who will society look to attack next!?
This is about civil rights. As Martin Luther King has said: "I have a dream... where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but of the content of their character."
Although I'm Christian, I believe that the "sin" argument is the weakest argument you can throw at someone. Not everyone is Christian, and even though there may be homosexual Christians, religion and state should never intercept. If we allow that to happen, then we will end up similar to Saudi Arabia.
What do you mean "similar to Saudi Arabia, Xan?
I mean that women in Saudi Arabia have limited rights, not to mention, due to the popular religion there, the law enforces the hijab. Hell, there's a separate DMV for men and women. I TOTALLY disagree with religion+state. Just because religion isn't inserted into the law book, does not mean the government will not use their logic and morals to create laws.
Any more questions, comments, etc, go for it. :] I'd be more elaborate, but... eh. I think this covers it enough.
Ugh, this pisses me off too. People came to the new world because they wanted separation of church and government yet there are still dumb laws like this around....
America is slowly becoming a dictatorship. This prop is also stupid because like you said it's going to over ride the other law which allows gay marriage. I hate contridictory.

Jak - Everyone cross your fingers. Daxter - Your know I've never been able to do that.
Feel what you wish, but please tell your fellow campaigners to kindly refrain from stealing our signs and vandalizing our property.
"This, actually, is going to pull back the new law they made that had ALLOWED homosexuals to marry."
...which went against what the majority of the people previously voted for.
And really, it would be one thing if I could believe that gay marriage would be legalized and gay-rights-activists would be like, "Cool, we got what we wanted! Let's just go on our merry way and let everyone believe what they want to believe." But I know that if gay-rights-activists win this battle, they'll use the law to essentially force people to believe the same things they do, or pay. They will never accept the other opinion. Oh, sure, the No on Prop 8 official campaign may never say anything about that, but it's undeniable that many of the individuals who make it up, will. Just the fact that countless numbers of signs have been disappearing all over my town is proof of that.
And the... it won't stop homosexuality argument? Well, of course not. No one is trying to do that. (Except a few nutcases, maybe.)
Gay people do have equal rights. They're allowed to marry someone of the opposite sex.
Anyone who could do that to someone of the same sex, and especially be proud of it, is fucked up.
keep your sex life to yourself. if i wanted to fuck things in fishnets or things that resemble dogs i wouldnt expect to go round telling everyone and expect to be treated normal.
I havent seen one cool person who does it. Everyone i have met is annoying. theyre generally a pain in the arse (no pun intended)
All the furries, hentai addicts, homosexuals, blood fetishists.
They are just plain weird in their behaviour.
everyones heard the dickheads who go "i dont mind as long as they act straight around me" they really mean "stop acting fucking annoying and putting on girly voices"
It's just an act of desperation, honestly.
I remember cleary the day i proved it was.
Clay is the most prroooud homosexual anyone knows. once we were talking, and i told him to not masturbate for a month, then walk round the coast on the holidays.
No, I totally see what you're saying. And, honestly? I feel the same way about this total "pride" issue.
I really don't it when they flaunt it, yes, I agree. And I definately agree that people should keep their sex lives to themselves. But whenever I hear this "sanctity of marriage" crap, I get miffed. Because there's no 'sanctity of marriage," IMO, unless it's done in a church.

I don't support vandalism or thievery, obviously. o_o I didn't even know that was going on.
"But I know that if gay-rights-activists win this battle, they'll use the law to essentially force people to believe the same things they do, or pay." I really don't hope that happens. Dx That would suck ASS.
"And the... it won't stop homosexuality argument? Well, of course not. No one is trying to do that. (Except a few nutcases, maybe.)" The kids in my school think that if gay marriage is banned so will being gay. -.- They're total idiots.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
